Bandela Mgoqi is the Pharmacy Manager and Responsible Pharmacist at Kalafong Tertiary Hospital under the Gauteng Department of Health. With over a decade of experience across public and private healthcare sectors, he leads high-volume pharmacy operations serving more than 20,000 patients per month.

He is the Founder and Project Leader of SkipTheQ, a digital health solution designed to reduce waiting times for chronic medication collection in public hospitals. Since its launch in 2024, the platform has improved patient flow and demonstrated how practical digital innovation can enhance access to medicines in resource-constrained settings.


Bandela has a strong focus on health informatics and system optimisation, building and implementing digital solutions that improve patient flow, medicine access and operational efficiency in public healthcare. His work integrates clinical reasoning, data analytics, workflow intelligence and system design to solve real-world healthcare challenges.


He currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the South African Association of Hospital and Institutional Pharmacists (SAAHIP), Southern Gauteng Branch. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Wits, Postgraduate Diploma in Cosmetic Formulation from North-West University and is currently completing a Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacoeconomics with University of KwaZulu -Natal.


Recognised for his leadership and innovation, Bandela was awarded Best Manager at 2024 Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital’s Excellence Awards. He is passionate about bridging healthcare and technology, mentoring young professionals and building scalable digital solutions that strengthen public healthcare systems. At SAPHEX, he shares frontline insights on how leadership, digital systems and innovation can transform pharmacy practice in the public sector.
