Jameel Kariem is a registered pharmacist with extensive experience in community pharmacy and other sectors of the profession. He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree from the University of Cape Town in 1989. He is currently the owner and responsible pharmacist of Rondebosch East Pharmacy in Cape Town, which incorporates an active immunisation and family planning clinic.
Jameel is a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and has served on several FIP committees. Through the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA), he was actively involved in activities linked to the 82nd FIP World Congress in 2024. His professional qualifications include certifications in PIMART, the Administration of Immunisations and Injections (including ADR and EPI vaccines), and Lumira-Dx Point-of-Care Testing protocols.
He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA), and holds several leadership roles within the profession, including national President of the South African Association of Community Pharmacists (SAACP) and Vice-Chairperson of the SAACP sector of the Western Cape branch of the PSSA, and member of the CWSP PSSA branch committee. Jameel was awarded Fellowship of the PSSA in 2025 for his contribution to the profession. He is also a member of the Independent Community Pharmacy Association (ICPA) and serves on the Western Cape Committee.
Jameel is committed to enhancing clinical pharmacy services in the community setting. He is dedicated to elevating the pharmacy profession by promoting teamwork, demonstrating leadership, and engaging in advocacy efforts.
